1946. -

Foundation of Tvornica vinske kiseline (Tartaric Acid Factory) at Sisak, producing only vine acid with some twenty employees. One year later, Tvornica kisika (Oxygen Factory) was affiliated to the initial factory, and the factory name was changed to Tvornica vinske kiseline i kisika Radonja (the Radonja Tartaric Acid and Oxygen Factory).

1953. -

Strategic decision to start production of plant protection agents in collaboration with experts of Faculty of Chemical Engineering. The company name changed to Radonja tvornica kemijskih proizvoda - the Radonja Chemical Products Factory.
Production of organo-mercury products, of which Radosan intended for cereals seed treatment soon became well-known on the market thus building up company's reputation. This period is characterized by rapid development, the expansion of the product range and a rise in the number of employees.

1954. -

In co-operation with the Institute for Industrial Researches, Zagreb, the work started on the development of organo-sulphurous compounds used in plant protection as fungicides.

1955. -

The Company was granted a patent for its technology for atrazine synthesis, i.e. the production of a herbicide on the basis of the company's own patent. This herbicide became a world leader for maize protection. Atrazine synthesis was at that time the first plant to produce basic chemicals in former Yugoslavia. In addition to atrazine, the company started with development of synthesis of other herbicides efficient in maize protection (Simazine, Ametrine and Prometrine).

1957. -

Start of the co-operation with Sandoz, Switzerland, and the production of a new group of products, i.e. insecticides. The products having trade names Ekatin, Piretoks, Lipisan, and Mravocid soon became leading insecticides on the market.

1960. -

Construction of a new plant for synthesis and formulation of organo-sulphurous products. The production and sale of Radotiram P, Radotiram WP 50, Radociram and Radocineb started. These are the well-known fungicides used in vine, fruit and vegetable growing.
At that time the Company was focused on the development and the recruitment of professional staff, i.e. chemical engineers and agronomists, to set up modern laboratories.

1963. -

In co-operation with Beckman, a US company, start of the production of diagnostic agents, the products intended for clinical diagnostics in health care.

1970. -

The first company in the former Yugoslavia to start the production of protective and decorative coatings for wood using its own formulations.

1973. -

Start up of the new plant for Atrazin synthesis, which secured a leading position of the company as for technological development. Atrazin, which is exported to many European countries, the USA, and many other Asian and African countries, became the trademark of the Company.

1974. -

Start up of the modern plant for the formulation of Treflan in collaboration with a world-known company Dow Elanco. Treflan is a leading herbicide in sunflower, soy, oil rape, and many other vegetable farming.

1984. -

Start up of the powder formulation plant with state-of-the-art equipment.
In the same year, start up of the plant for interior and exterior coatings, i.e. water-based dispersive coatings for walls and concrete.

1985. -

In co-operation with the world-known company Monsanto a gliphosat acid amination plant put in operation. Its well-known product Cidokor represents a new generation of herbicide.

1988. -

Continuous concern for environmental protection resulted in the construction of Hazardous Waste Incineration Facility and its putting in operation.

1992. -

At the founding meeting of the joint-stock company the company name was changed to Herbos d. d.
Over a few following years, the company invested heavily in the automation of the synthesis process and increasing the quality of Atrazin (a product that has promoted the development of the factory), the improvement of working conditions in the plants (aspiration and packing automation) and in the introduction of computer-aided formulation management.

1998. -

Start up of production in the newly built plant for the formulation of protective and decorative coatings for wood and metal. The modern plant enables the production of Lignosan stain, Herbolux and other well-known products.

2003. -

In December of 2003., County Chamber of Commerce has awarded Herbos with “ZLATNA PLAKETA” (Golden Plaquettes), in the category of most successful company, for accomplishing best business results in the year 2002. 2009.- today

Herbos successfuly sold its construction business (2009) and decided to concentrate on agro-business.

Herbos agressivly seeks registrations in several new markets and is expecting to double export in the next 3 years and establish as the leading "post-patent" crop protection company in the region.

Herbos continually works on restructuring and modernisation of its business. New production techniques are being introduced, as well as new production lines. There is much investment in modern facilities, and reforms in business strategy; which will result in better competitiveness and establishment of Herbos as a leading domestic producer of crop protection agents.

Herbos also invests significant amount of resources in order to establish environmental acceptability in the production process as well as in products themselves, and therefore trying to reduce negative environmental impact.

Herbos signes an agreement for ISO 9001 and 14001 certification.
